F.P. Journe strengthens its linesport collection and launches the new model 44 mm Octa Sport Titanium with a yellow dial, very large date and tachymeter bezel on ceramic background. With its self-winding aluminum movement, this unique watch is incredibly light.
This collection was inspired by a great collector who engaged in the competition of marathon and triathlon and wanted a light sport watch, but with a movement of authentic haute horlogerie.
F.P. Journe has done extensive research to find an ultra lightweight and resistant material, to accommodate its exceptional caliber, while maintaining the fine watchmaking properties that inhabit its daily life. The Octa Automatic Reserve Sport presents the new aluminum movement reserved only for the sport line. Extremely light, the watch weighs in its entirety only about 60 grams (on rubber strap).
The transition from 18-carat rose gold - used for all F.P. Journe movements - to aluminum was not easy for obvious technical reasons. F.P. Journe pushed his research even further in an aesthetic quest to perfect an appropriate color contrast. Rubber shock absorbers are fixed by a novel method at the ends of each bracelet link and on the sides of the case, to effectively protect the watch from shocks, like bumpers on old automobiles. The wreath and clasp are made of titanium - signed by F.P. Journe - are covered with a rubber coating. The buckle also offers an adjustment system allowing the adaptation of half a link size (about 4 mm).
